POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. Application Developer will participate in the full development lifecycle for Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence project as well as other projects with Private Markets technology group including requirements gathering, technical design, development, testing, and implementation. The position will work closely with the business analysts and the Business Intelligence team to understand business information requirements, design solutions to meet those requirements, and implement the design in accordance with a specified business need and in a way that achieves the development goals for assigned projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Interpret written business requirements, functional requirements and technical specification documents to design and develop technical solutions that meet business needs
  • Must have very strong understanding and expertise to Design, Develop and Deliver ETL and Data Integration solutions using IBM Data Stage 11x working on all stages of SDLC
  • Develop DataStage Sequencers and Parallel jobs using different stages like Aggregator, Join, Merge, Lookup, Source dataset, External Filter, Row generator, Column Generator, Change Capture, Copy, Funnel, Short, Peek stages etc.
  • Knowledge of Best Practices in DataStage
  • Tuning ETL jobs and SQL queries for optimization
  • Identify and communicate technical risks, issues, and changes
  • Contribute to design review meetings with other members of Application Development
  • Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and come up with solutions as required
  • Participate in an Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases on a periodic basis through Sprints
  • Create and maintain technical documentation using defined technical documentation templates that meet SDLC standards
  • Serves as initial point of escalation for all processing and operational issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
  • A minimum of total 12+ years of experience developing applications in a full SDLC environment for a financial services firm, with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in designing, developing and implementing solutions using SSIS 2012+ and DataStage 8.x or higher.
  • 5+ years of experience working with large scale Data Warehousing and BI projects
  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing solutions using MarkItEDM 9.5+
  • Excellent skills in Oracle 11g or higher and Microsoft SQL Server 2012+ database development
  • Strong hands on working knowledge in UNIX and/or Linux operating systems environment and strong hands-on experience in writing UNIX shell scripts and PERL scripts
  • Experience using Job scheduling software AutoSys
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to varying audiences.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and conceptual skills
  • Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Must have a fairly good knowledge of the Asset Management domain and Capital Markets

Preferred Skills:
  • Excellent communication ( written and oral), with senior leaders and peers, facilitation, interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to perform tasks of high complexity and to modify processes, plans and designs as needed
