Responsible for ensuring significant emerging financial, operational and reputational risks are identified at an early stage and advising senior management, including the Board, on appropriate risk mitigation.

Business Unit/Department: Risk Management Department 
Report to: CFO/CRO
Supervise: Middle Office Team, Credit Risk Team, Market Risk Team, Operational Risk Team

The place of the position in functional structure

Cooperates with: All Heads of Departments and Teams, CFO/CRO and the Board
Participates in: Bank’s daily operations.       

Principal tasks:     

  • Manage all risks pertaining to the Company’s business (banking, investment services and insurance brokerage)
  • Ensure that the Company’s business model based on modern agile technology platforms is properly combined with best practice risk management, i.e. high levels of mapped processing automation within the business shall ensure effective management and mitigation of the risks associated with, incl. outsourcing and the geographic distribution of activities
  • Consult with the Board of Directors of the Company the overall risk strategy and policy, including defining risk tolerance and risk appetite, and establishing the risk management framework
  • Implement processes and procedures that are effective in identifying, managing, monitoring and reporting the risks the Company is - or might be - exposed to
  • Determine the amounts, types and distribution of both internal capital and own funds adequate to cover the risks and putting in place mechanisms, such as the ICAAP process, which will ensure a continuing focus on the capital adequacy of the Company’s business
  • Prepare and update a resolution & recovery plan, which will set out a management strategy aimed at preventing the Company from failing and identify the options that might be available to management to respond to a crisis
  • Report to the Chief Financial Officer and the Risk Committee of the Board (incl. all sub-committees involving a risk dimension, namely ALCO, Credit Risk and Operational Risk) on risk management of the Company
  • Lead the Risk Management team of the Company
  • Perform any other duties entrusted by the CEO, CFO or above mentioned committees and sub-committees of the Company

Entrance requirements to the job:

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong academics and relevant professional qualifications/accreditations (preferably mathematics, physics or relevant financial degree)
  • Significant work experience in Risk Management, including managerial positions
  • Strong management skills, experience in recruiting and team building
  • Thorough knowledge of banking products and associated risks
  • Ability to influence at the strategic level

Command of languages 

  • Proficiency in English with strong command of financial vocabulary
  • Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage
