Management / Leadership position at a Regional Bank

Our client is one of the largest Banks in Asia. They are now looking for a Head of Legal & Compliance to oversee their whole L&C department. You will be managing 30 plus legal and compliance professionals. Under your team/matrix, there will be two other deputy heads and 3 team heads to support you on the day to day operation work allowing you to be a part of the bank's senior management team.

Job Description

  • Lead the Compliance Teams to oversee the full compliance function for a medium size commercial bank
  • Oversee the Compliance function in Hong Kong and overseas branches
  • Ensure a smooth day to day operation and management of the overall compliance functions
  • Lead the Teams to provide full range of compliance advisory and support to various business units; monitor all licensing and registration matters
  • Supervise the Team Heads to maintain and update the applicable laws and regulations and drive the appropriate corresponding changes in policies and procedures for the compliance purpose
  • Fully responsible for relevant compliance reporting to regulators and regulatory compliance
  • Supervise a team of legal counsel

Job Requirement

  • Degree in Banking or relevant discipline, with formal training in Laws and auditing preferably
  • With 15 years' compliance and legal experience in Commercial Bank and familiar with Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Private Banking, Treasury and Global Market,
  • Sound compliance knowledge of various aspects including the Banking Ordinance, Securities and Futures Ordinance, HKMA and SFC guidelines and circulars, Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, Code of Banking Practice, Companies Ordinance and broad product knowledge;
  • Good analytical, interpersonal and time management skills,
  • Be mature and able to work independently and under pressure;
  • Capable to deal with multi-tasks in organized and timely manner;
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
