Company Overview

Blackstone Europe Fund Management S.à r.l. (BEFM) is a private limited liability company (société à responsibilité limitée) notably subject to the Law of 10 August 1915 on commercial companies, as amended from time to time and to the AIFM Law. BEFM is authorized by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) as (i) a management company under Article 101(2) (Chapter 15) of the Law of 17 December 2010 on undertakings for collective investment, as amended (the UCI Law) and (ii) an alternative investment fund manager in accordance with the Law of 12 July 2013 on alternative investment fund managers, as amended (the AIFM Law).

BEFM manages UCITS and alternative investment funds (AIFs) in a variety of asset classes including private equity, real estate, credit and hedge fund solutions. BEFM is also authorized to manage separately managed accounts (SMAs) with a combination of these asset classes.

Job Description

A senior member of the Portfolio Management Oversight ("PMO") team, playing an important role in continuing to build and develop the function to genuine "Best in Class" standards. Successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with various stakeholders in the US and EMEA region for oversight purposes and coordination with legal and compliance teams to ensure regulatory expectations are met while ensuring processes are lean and sustainable.

This position will report to the Conducting Officer in charge of Portfolio Management Oversight, with responsibility to provide support in wide-ranging tasks. In addition to its core responsibility, the PMO team is responsible for coordination of onboarding new funds at BEFM as well responsibility for IT oversight.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Management Oversight
  • Perform initial and periodic due diligence reviews of portfolio management delegates ("Delegates") in accordance with BEFM's risk based approach to ensure complete and timely process
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of the Delegates in line with applicable regulations and in accordance to internally developed KPIs and escalate any findings and/or highlights to senior management
  • Prepare reporting and present result of PMO's activity to the relevant committees and boards
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Delegates
  • Act as a point of contact for PMO matters to US and EMEA stakeholders and /or other team members
  • Liaise with external counsel to obtain legal advice when necessary
  • Represent the team in meetings with all Blackstone's Business Units
  • Participate in creating lean and efficient processes while ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Ensure that all policies, procedures, and processes encompass latest regulatory requirements

IT Oversight
  • Maintain ICT governance framework by updating BEFM's IT Policy and other key documents
  • Perform due diligence reviews on BEFM's ICT outsourcing arrangements in accordance with BEFM's risk based approach to ensure complete and timely process and in collaboration with Blackstone's vendor risk management team
  • Develop and perform ongoing monitoring over BEFM's IT delegate to ensure meeting CSSF's and EU regulatory requirements while leveraging from existing process at the Group level

New Products Onboarding
  • Coordinate onboarding of new funds liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Review fund documentation, where relevant, and manage new business approval process
  • Administer management information data for purpose of reporting to stakeholders

Miscellaneous
  • Participate in PMO, BEFM and Group level projects
  • Support Conducting Officer during internal audit, annual external audit and ad hoc tasks
  • Always seek to improve processes and innovate
  • Coach, train and supervise junior team members

Qualifications & Skills

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team, are highly motivated, with a sound judgment, and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.
  • Master's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, such as UCITS Management Company, AIFM, or Advisory role. A prior experience in a Big 4 firm is an asset
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral
  • Good knowledge of the local/EU regulatory requirements related to UCITS and AIFs, domiciled in Luxembourg and/or Ireland
  • Exposure to CSSF Circular 22/806 and DORA Regulation is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint is essential. Knowledge of IT languages like VBA and SQL is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively connect and collaborate with international teams, and thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
  • Highly organized, great attention to detail, and strong time management skills
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability, manages work independently and knows when to escalate matters
