The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Risk Management Directorate (RM) – Regulation and EIB Group Risk Department – Regulation and Reporting Division - Risk Reporting Unit, at its headquarters in Luxembourg, an (Associate) Risk Reporting Officer. This is a full time position at grade 4/5.

The initial term of this contract will be 4 years.

Panel interviews are anticipated for mid to end September 2021

The Unit ensures timely and robust monitoring and reporting to internal and external parties on the Group risk profile and Risk Appetite Framework, both on a portfolio and/or on an operation-by-operation basis.

The Unit also provides explanations and analyses of reported information in the form of presentations to the attention of the Management Committee, the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors.

Finally, the Unit ensures strategic implementation and compliance with BCBS 239 principles promoting an alignment between risk, business development, finance and IT.

As (Associate) Officer, you will implement, maintain and produce regular risk reporting for internal and external stakeholders in line with the EIB Group’s risk policies, in order to provide EIBG’s Senior Management Team with solid decision-making grounds and reliable management tools.   

Operating Network

Reporting to the Head of the Risk Reporting Unit, you will work in close cooperation with colleagues in Risk Management (REG/CM, FIN, OPE) and other Directorates, such as CS-IT, TMR and the EIF. You will also interact externally with peer institutions, consultancy and audit firms, rating agencies, supervisors and regulators, for risk reporting matters in the domain of the Unit.


  • Produce risk reporting on a monthly/semi-annual/annual basis for senior management and/or external stakeholders (European Commission, rating agencies etc…) according to the team reporting calendar, ensuring respect of strict deadlines while preserving accuracy in line with best reporting practices
  • Ensure continuous testing of risk applications and timely resolution of data quality issues.
  • Where needed, draft business requirements and define processes to enhance the existing risk reporting solutions
  • Develop added-value risk reporting with special focus on Group risk activities
  • Propose and implement measures to streamline the existing reporting produced by the team
  • Act as business owner of risk reports in larger projects involving several Directorates and/or applications
  • Participate in the Bank's efforts to ensure ongoing compliance with its framework of best banking practice in the area of risk management (including BCBS 239 principles)
  • Respond to ad-hoc/non-recurrent/complex demands including initiatives/policies related to the content of the post when needed
  • Ensure back -up of tasks in the other areas of activity of the Unit in line with internal planning


  • University degree, preferably in IT, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering or Economics with a solid quantitative background. Postgraduate studies in one of these subjects would be an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience gained either in a reporting function or in IT business development for reporting activities
  • Knowledge of EU regulatory reporting processes (BCBS 239 reporting principles), risk management and experience in these fields is a distinct advantage
  • Project management skills would be a plus
  • Knowledge of banking regulatory risk frameworks (Risk Appetite Framework, CRR, stress-testing etc…) will be considered as a clear asset
  • Excellent Excel and VBA skills are required, together with mastery of one or more programming languages
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*) and a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an asset

If selected, such candidates will be hired on the condition that they build up rapidly knowledge of French and accept that their future career in the EIB may be subject to the attainment of sufficient proficiency in both of the Bank's working languages
