Financial Reporting Assistant Manager - Private Assets Funds

Permanent contract


Role and Responsibilities:

You will be part of the multinational Fund Administration department of HSBC Continental Europe, Luxembourg Branch and work for a team dedicated to Financial Reporting with a specific focus on Private Debts and Private Assets.

You will be responsible for the oversight of the production process, for the planning and for handling the audit of semi-annual and annual financial statements.

In this role you will manage a group of Private Debts and Private Assets clients assigned to the team as well as the supervision and oversight of the various off-shored Financial Reporting functions. The Financial Reporting team serves as the overall interface between the bank, the auditors, the clients and the regulators in all matters relating to the production of financial statements of the funds under administration, as such the role may also extend to our Traditional and Alternative clients.

Along with your team colleagues, you will be the primary point of contact for auditors, clients and regulators and coordinate answers with regards to all Financial Reporting queries.

As part of your role, you will ensure the highest level of service is provided to our clients and you will continuously strive to enforce and enhance our control environment with the aim of mitigating and controlling our risks. 

You will ensure the identification and prompt reporting of potential gaps and risks that may affect the Group, the clients and the Bank.

In addition, you will provide assistance to superiors in delegated projects and tasks as well as assisting both the internal and external auditors during the funds and the banks reviews.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the oversight of the production process, accuracy and timeliness of all Financial Reporting deliverables;
  • Review financial statements of complex fund structures prepared by the international teams and ensure integrity with the required standards, accuracy of all accounts, notes and disclosures, including adequate classification and disclosures of securities and derivatives with a high degree of attention to detail;
  • Provide support and guidance to onshore and offshore teams in order for the service delivery to be met;
  • Maintain comprehensive calendars for your respective financial reporting deliverables and events;
  • Ensure good relationships are maintained with our primary contacts and liaise with internal and external parties in order to arrange for approval, signing and filing of financial statements within deadlines;
  • Ensure clean audit management letters by coordinating, reviewing and monitoring all aspects of the current and prior year production cycle;
  • Assist the Managers in delegated tasks and projects and ensure procedures and controls are followed;
  • Ensure internal and external audit procedures and controls are followed, reviewed, managed and completed.


Experience and skills required:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional qualification, preferably in Audit, Accounting, Financial Reporting or Finance.
  • Previous experience of at least 5 years within the Investment Fund Industry, specialised in Financial Reporting and sound accounting process understanding
  • Previous experience of Private Debts and Private Assets structures and consolidations is a requirement for this role.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, would be an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Luxembourg Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (Lux GAAP), as they pertain to investment funds. Knowledge of any other GAAP would be an advantage;
  • In depth knowledge of AIFMD regulations;
  • Proven ability to organise workloads, to work efficiently and independently, but also highly motivated with aptitude for team work;
  • Ability to meet targets and deadlines;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with auditors, clients and colleagues;
  • Managerial experience is an advantage;
  • Very good command of Excel, Word, Access and affinity with major Private Assets’ industry software packages would be an advantage;
  • Perfect command of English, both in spoken and written, together with excellent communication skills are required for the role. German language would be considered as a strong advantage considering the expansion of our German client base.
