The Europe Risk team is responsible for overseeing all aspects of risk management for M&G Group in Europe, covering Luxembourg and other European-based operations such as France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

The Europe Risk team is part of the independent Group Risk function and works in close partnership with the other functional and regional risk teams with responsibilities covering the UK, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. The team collaborates extensively with first line of defence business areas and other control functions across the group.

We are looking for a Senior Manager / Manager - Operational Risk to support our growing asset management operations in Europe. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a strong second line of defence function focused on providing pragmatic advice and challenge, monitoring and oversight to senior stakeholders and be actively involved in the ongoing enhancements to the implementation of operational risk management practices in Europe.

Key Responsibilities for this Role:
As part of the Europe Risk team, key responsibilities of the role include:

• Lead on the operational risk matters relevant to the European business, engaging with first line business areas accordingly
• Lead on continued embedding of the Group-wide Risk Management Framework across the European business, with particular focus on operational risk and internal control - e.g. Risk appetite statements and scenarios, Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), Notifiable events and issues, Key control testing
• Lead on the independent review and challenge of risk assessments across the European business including change assessments
• Lead and carry out thematic/assurance reviews with the support of the broader Non-Financial risk team
• Provide operational risk analysis, and regular and thematic reporting and presentation for regional and group governance committees/forums
• Lead on the ongoing enhancements of operational risk management practices and processes in the region
• Represent the Europe Risk team at the regional and group governance committees/forums for operational risk matters
• Build and maintain a strong collaboration with stakeholders across the European business, across all three lines of defence and with non-financial risk SMEs within the group
• Provide Operational Risk training to the business

Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Strong knowledge and experience in the financial services/asset management industry
• Minimum 8 years' experience in operational risk management
• Strong analytical and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain and articulate risk related asset management concepts and to collaborate with, manage and challenge stakeholders at all levels
• Strong report writing skills
• Ability to apply independent judgement and demonstrate a proactive approach to operational risk management
• Strong understanding of the regulatory framework for Non-Financial Risk Management within financial services

Qualifications:

• Masters degree or equivalent experience
• Risk / Finance professional qualification such as CFA, CAIA, GARP, PRMIA a plus
