In 2017 APG Asset Management created a Fiduciary Management (FM) department with the objective to provide pension fund clients with independent advise and keep oversight on the appropriate implementation of client mandates and assignments. The FM department appointed a Fiduciary Manager Responsible Investments (FMRI) who is the primary contact for clients concerning their Responsible Investment policies.

In this new position you act as an independent, strategic advisor of the client. You are responsible for providing high-quality RI policy advice to the client and provide RI-related input to the Fiduciary Managers. You ensure RI is embedded in the development and realization of Fiduciary mandating advice, decisions and execution reviews, in line with client requirements, laws and regulations and the overall fiduciary strategy and vision of APG AM. All this to contribute to the successful realization of the clients RI strategy.

As a Fiduciary Manager RI your daily work includes:

  • Interaction with clients on client specific RI assignments
  • Communication with portfolio managers, RI experts in the Portfolio Management Department (PM) and risk managers in the second-line Risk Management Department (RM)
  • Monitoring the performance and risk at client portfolio/asset class-level from an RI perspective
  • Providing your colleagues within the FM department (Client Managers, Fiduciary Managers, Research, Strategists, Reporting Officers) with RI specific knowledge and share your expertise
  • Monitor external developments/trends on RI


The department of the Chief Fiduciary Officer is designed to act as a trusted and independent advisor of our pension fund clients. It advises clients on strategic balance-sheet and investment management strategy, and translates the client strategy into a tangible set of mandates. CFi evaluates the performance of selected internal and external asset managers and keeps oversight over the risk and return of the total client portfolio.

You will be based in Amsterdam at our office at the Zuidas.

Requirements
You are an independent and analytical thinker with excellent communication and writing skills, who builds and maintains strong relationships. You have high standards for the quality of your work and your organizational sensitivity towards both the client and APG is well developed.

Furthermore we ask for:

  • A post academic education in a relevant field
  • At least 10 years of experience within Financial services or Asset Management
  • Extensive experience with Responsible Investment Policy Setting and Responsible Investment portfolio overlay
  • The capability of building and structuring a solid argumentation, and the ability to defend your own opinion and to stand your own ground
  • Up-to-date knowledge on the latest developments in the RI field
  • Having an extensive network concerning RI
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch
