Job Purpose •Global role •To assist the Financial Markets COO, Control and Change function in effective Front Office control. •Ensure global best practice and consistency around the region, implementing controls and regulatory and internal requirements. •Work with global peers and operational risk to ensure robustness of the business control environment

Key Responsibilities

50% of the time: Primary responsibilities include the management and execution of controls and Controls tests/ KCI’s, including but not limited to the following areas:

  • Hard Margin Substantiation – identify in-scope trades for review and manage workflow from initiation to completion
  • Order Recording - checking the details in Bloomberg vault of IB conversations for missed deals.  Ensure adherence to the new Order Recording Arrangements e.g. MiFID II
  • Cross Border controls – sample testing across the key areas of onshore/offshore activities
  • Investment Recommendations/Market Abuse Regulation controls – testing that Financial Markets Sales are liaising with clients in compliance of regulation
  • Trader Mandates – assist manager to enhance the process and related control environment


20% of the time:

  • In addition, the individual will need to develop tactical systems to automate the above daily controls they are performing and work with manager to on-board new controls as and where relevant


30% of the time:

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand new processes within the Operational Risk Framework and document procedures and flowcharts.
  • Manage open audit points
  • Ensure team is operating effectively
  • Support manager in day to day running of the team including projects and ad hoc requests



Must have:

  • Strong Business Risk / Operational Risk
  • Strong financial markets product knowledge

Nice to haves:

  • Preference for Product Control background
  • Familiar with Banking Regulation, i.e. MiFID, Volcker, Dodd Frank, Margin Reform, Best Execution
  • Murex, Excel, Macros, VB a plus


  • Ability to challenge and influence the views of more senior staff
