Head, Cloud & DevOps Architecture

The Role Responsibilities

Strategy
  • Lead the Domain Architecture for Cloud & DevOps. This includes the Cloud Service Onboarding Architecture, Cloud Service Security Architecture, and DevOps solutioning architecture to transformation of our DevOps pipelines and Engineering Experience platform.
  • Accelerate the Cloud First strategy through architecting strong foundational building blocks and reusable Cloud patterns.
  • Provide directions of SaaS based products where it makes technical and commercial sense to migrate from on-prem products.
Business
  • Define and report metrics for individual engineers, leads and T&I MT as in the scope of Cloud & DevOps. Ensure progressing towards the ultimate target 75% compute workload on Public Cloud by 2025.
  • Ensure architecture of one short- and long-term Cloud Transformation pipeline for the Bank.
  • Identify technology bottlenecks in Cloud & DevOps and specify optimization/automation to be implemented.
  • Architect the Cloud Services Catalogue, Artifactory and Golden Versions directions.
  • Ensure that all initiatives and projects joined up to target Cloud & DevOps vision.
  • Partners with other technology teams in the Bank including Security, Networks and others to ensure shared deliverables are architect properly.
Processes
  • Work with Architecture, Security, Compliance, Cloud and Technology Governance to follow appropriate policies, procedures and controls for enablement of Azure Cloud Services for the Bank
People and Talent
  • Lead through example and build the engineering culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the team and stakeholders.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development; make sure that the team members are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles, ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Scouting, hiring, inspiring and managing the best technology talents in the field of Cloud & DevOps, and emerging technologies both internally and externally.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance for our team around software architecture and enterprise platform integrations
  • Is open-minded, a team player, and excited by Cloud & DevOps technology challenges in an innovative working environment
Risk Management

  • Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment within the Cloud & DevOps organisation
  • Ensure onboarding of technologies are done properly with Legal, Compliance and Security Teams
  • Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness becomes apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and, if necessary, escalated through the relevant committees
Governance
  • Ensure adherence to, bank-wide technology and architecture standards.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Improve and simplify Cloud & DevOps architecture governance and decisioning across the strategic Cloud Technology Themes

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 10 years' experience in enterprise infrastructure or software development with a focus on enabling development teams
  • Project Management and Management of Engineering teams
  • Strong experience in Cloud Service Onboarding Architecture, Cloud Service Security Architecture, and DevOps solutioning architecture to transformation of our DevOps pipelines, automation and Engineering Experience platform.
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements in a banking regulated organisation
  • Delivering of Terraforms
  • Passionate about building and delivering APIs
  • Experience with Agile software development practice
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and testing techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Open to working in areas outside of your comfort zone, experimenting with new technologies and techniques
  • Able to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment
  • Comfortable working in a corporate environment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, open to challenges
