Cyber Security Engineer, Splunk, Linux (12 month contract, Zurich)

On behalf of our client, a global bank with headquarters in Zurich, Swisslinx are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer with knowledge of Splunk and Linux to join our client's global Support Team.

This is a rolling 12 month contract with a strong chance of extension and a start date in be June/July 2018.

Joining a globally dispersed team providing support to infrastructure consumed by the different Cyber Security teams, you would ensure availability and functionality are there as needed, and help ensure data capturing and monitoring systems are working as intended.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Proactively monitoring various infrastructure systems using different tools, and taking appropriate action to avoid failure of services.
• Proactively identifying ways to improve monitoring, processes, or services (including ways that can be done with existing configurations, or ways that may require capital investments).
• Implementation of improvements.
• Reactively handling break/fix issues with the infrastructure of our security products.
• Deployment of upgrades, new products, new tools.
• Assisting in the review of new products, applying critical thinking to make sure it is the best fit for the use cases, and challenging the scope and requirements appropriately.
• Participation in cross-team training.

As the successful applicant, you will possess the following skills and experience:

• Advanced Linux experience
• Extensive Splunk experience (writing efficient queries, building dashboards, troubleshooting issues)
• Experience in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline (ex: Cyber security)
• Strong debugging and problem solving skills
• Good spoken and written English (German nice to have)
