Associate/Business Manager Global Markets COO


Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group's relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing equities, markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers.

Markets is a department of IB&M and is responsible for all of the Group's activities in interest rate, bond, foreign exchange, credit, debt and commodity products.

The Markets COO office constitutes a small team responsible for the execution of a range of operational, strategic and business transformation initiatives. The team maintains linkages within IB&M and with the broader Group, the management of risk related issues and has oversight of the new product management process and the prioritization of initiatives across Global Markets as well as other IB&M Departments.

Do Work that matters

You will work across the Global Markets businesses in London and New York, to provide assistance and direction to the operation of the Sales and Trading teams. You will have specific accountability for business continuity planning, key risk indicator reporting and analysis, control testing, Line 1 compliance with policies, intraday risk monitoring and will be required to be involved in all operational aspects of the business as is needed and required. The role has elements of Line 1 business oversight, risk and change management, and is also key to supporting the business with adhoc requirements related to event management.

As part of the COO team based in London, you will also be required to periodically cover general administrative tasks as required.

We are looking for people who have
  • A comprehensive understanding of financial market products.
  • A comprehensive understanding of markets systems, operating platforms and IT architecture.
  • Strong understanding of our finance function and financial reporting processes.
  • Sound knowledge of the regulatory environment and impacts of regulatory change on our business.
  • Effective change management capability.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and proven capability to run and deliver projects and realize associated benefits.
