Our client, a leading financial services house based in the City, are seeking an experienced risk professional to deputise for the CRO.


Our client is a leading financial services house with over 50 years of history. Specialising in securities transactions, they have a global presence.



  • Assume the full CRO role in the absence of the CRO and be recognised as the deputy in title and in responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of an effective and forward looking ERM framework to include risk appetite assessment, risk register, risk policies and governance
  • Assist the CRO in building an effective 2LoD risk function to enable risk identification, monitoring, measurement, reporting and mitigation
  • Focus on incident escalation, crisis procedures
  • Help ensure Risk is seen as a trusted partner and advisor to the business and to help the business grow with risk in mind
  • Deep dive into the business and products to understand the flows and risks and controls within the 1LoD
  • Provide independent oversight and challenge to first line activities
  • Help perform Risk assessments (pro-active, RCSA’s)
  • Help define Risk appetite and capacity and maintain KRI’s to assist the business staying within risk appetite
  • Supports the business on incident assessment and resolution
  • Help the CRO and Risk management develop best in class and forward looking risk reporting on all aspects of the ERM framework including emerging risks. Risk reportings should be timely and accurate
  • Ensure data available to the Risk Management function is valid, accurate and timely to enable the Risk function to execute its responsibilities
  • Perform timely risk assessments consistent with Risk Management methodology
  • Establish strong relationships and work with the wider risk division through knowledge sharing, participation and helping to drive risk transformation/ best practice
  • Understand Group risk policy and practice
  • Assist the CRO in holding Group accountable for their obligations under the Service Delivery Agreement for Risk
  • To act as delegate to the CRO in their absence on key management and risk committees where instructed
  • Assist the CRO in developing and reviewing key policies including but not limited to: Risk Charter, Corporate Risk Management Board Policy, Operational Risk Board Policy, Operational Risk Management Handbook
  • Must be able to break down complex flows, draw out end to end processes and able to extract the risk
  • Strong understanding of operational risk essential. Understanding of other risks within the ERM framework a significant advantage also. This person should be a risk ‘all-rounder’ preferably
  • Strong knowledge of governance structures, VRM, IT Risk, operational resilience, stress testing, building forward looking dashboards preferred



  • Degree level education
  • Banking or Broking Background
  • Able to demonstrate in depth experience of Post Trade Services/ relevant industry experience essential
  • Technical/professional expertise is demonstrated through problem solving, applying professional judgment, and competent performance (Risk Management – all areas especially Operational Risk or Audit).
