This is an exciting new opportunity as part of the People Insight and Cost Management team as Head of People Costs.
You'll be accountable for the day to day leadership of two of the largest cost management units, namely CMU1 (Resource) and CMU2 (Reward), representing ~£4bn of the Group's annual £9bn cost base.
Working in partnership with Divisions, Group Finance and other central teams, you'll take responsibility for managing the all-round performance of these CMUs, including cost efficiency, planning and reporting, project initiatives, and governance and control.
This is a high profile role, working with stakeholders across the Group, and setting and managing some key performance areas. It requires expert commercial and business management skills, supported by deep analytical capability, and the ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels.
Your remit will include,
Day to day responsibility for people costs (CMU1&2) including the cost management frameworks. Define and measure appropriate key performance indicators for people costs, including performance trends, performance to target, efficiency and risk management. Set resource cost and volume targets congruent with organisational strategy as part of budgeting and planning. Develop forecasting capability that enables effective decision making at all times. Provide cost analysis capability to inform cost efficiency and effectiveness programmes. Lead the delivery of people and productivity analysis and insight in order to identify, plan and deliver improvements in organisational effectiveness. Design and produce management reporting and information as required supporting the business and effective management of the CMUs. Be a key contributor in the development of People Insight and Cost Management strategies and objectives, policies, frameworks and practices. Maintain risk-management (encompassing principles, policies, methodologies, systems, internal controls, processes, procedures and people) in line with the Board-approved appetite for risk.
You'll assist in the development and manage the implementation of medium term plans in the context of the strategic direction, taking into account the business, customer advocacy and regulatory context. Promote the optimum use and adequacy of the Group's resources, supporting each business area to have the workforce / resource mix to delivers its strategy in an effective and efficient manner.
To be successful you'll have demonstrable commercial skills and sound business acumen that can contribute to financial results. Exceptional communication and relationship skills, with the ability to be a trusted advisor and also a collaborative challenger, a proven advisory capability and strong stakeholder partnering skills, coupled with professional resilience.
