Are you a dedicated tech professional? Want to join a dynamic, high-energy environment? We have a great opportunity for a talented Lead JAVA Developer to join our development team in Equity Derivatives. Our team is rapidly growing the business functionality of the bank's Exotic Direct Market Access and continuous price quoting platform.

You will be part of the global development team, working with colleagues in New York and India alongside your team in London. You will be highly experienced using Java and will also have in-depth knowledge of Agile and Test Automation.
Candidates who meet the technical requirements and also have a finance background will be preferred but this is not essential. Experience with derivatives would also be helpful.

You will have excellent communication skills and will be comfortable liaising with both senior internal stakeholders and also external clients on a regular basis.
You will be comfortable leading a team and show a passion for technology, being responsible for driving the team forward and encouraging continuous improvement.

As a Lead Java Developer what will your main responsibilities involve?

  • This is an important hands-on lead developer role where you will be responsible for building new features, whilst collaborating with the trading desk and external partners for prioritisation
  • You will help lead the strategic technical direction of the team
  • You will operate on bi-weekly iterations with frequent releases of working software to the business
  • You will provide code quality feedback to those on the team to ensure high standards and continuous improvement
  • You will be involved in writing test scripts and carrying them out to ensure quality

As a Lead Java Developer what skills and qualifications will you ideally possess?

  • Excellent experience with core Java development in a financial environment
  • Solid core Java & test automation
  • Experience of Agile (e.g. XP, Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Derivatives experience is helpful
  • FIX, C# & database knowledge is helpful

  • Deep understanding and experience of good development practices
  • Knowledge of design patterns and standard methodologies
  • Familiarity with concepts such as dependency injection and domain modelling
  • Good communicator, comfortable engaging with traders and clients
  • Ability to encourage and lead change within teams
  • Agile experience a big benefit
