Senior Manager - Technical Accounting

A top tier investment bank in London, is searching for a preferably qualified accountant to join their Group Insurance Finance team on a permanent basis.

The role holder will be responsible for driving the developmental work arising from the current financial reporting change agenda, leading the preparation of quarterly analytical review packs and groups external disclosures, leading the Group's Insurance expertise and delivery, and other ad-hoc technical accounting support.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Driving the identification and implementation of solutions required to meet the Group's objectives in relation to all technical change projects
  • Leading the quarterly external reporting process
  • Responsible for authoring and delivering high quality training to multiple stakeholders on Accounting and Regulatory change
  • Providing leadership for smaller business units, assisting local management with resourcing, technical and timing decisions as required
  • Representing Group Insurance at Group Finance change forums and committees
  • Provision of ad hoc technical accounting support to Group Insurance
  • Supporting BAU reporting teams with regard to system changes and process improvement initiatives

The ideal candidate will hold an accounting qualification (such as ACA/ACCA) or an international equivalent with 5 years post qualified experience.

Key skills required:

  • Exceptional IFRS technical accounting skills from industry or professional practice, including experience of drafting technical accounting papers and challenging current practice in order to drive improvement
  • Preferably good working knowledge of IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 developments to date
  • Working knowledge of Solvency II (including Pillar III) is advantageous
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience preparing of reports, analysis, commentary and technical accounting opinions on financial reporting matters
  • Good experience of monitoring and improving processes
