This innovative energy business is now seeking a Senior Systems Advisor to join their London based operation. The role will provide day-to-day advice and support to the Commercial and Regulation team on the design, development, implementation and testing of the systems required for full operation.

This innovative energy business is now seeking a Senior Systems Advisor to join their London based operation. The role will provide day-to-day advice and support to the Commercial and Regulation team on the design, development, implementation and testing of the systems required for full operation.

The role will be responsible for working across different organisations and partnerships to integrate the business into already existing platforms and arrangements for the allocation of long term and short term cross border capacity, the design of business processes for the business and specifying, developing and implementing proprietary systems to facilitate these business processes. The role will also be required to manage contractual relationships with IT service providers and/or hardware/software vendors.

The successful candidate will provide insightful analysis to the team considering the broad and constantly evolving European energy landscape, while ensuring strong attention to detail and timely and cost-effective delivery.

The key responsibilities are as follows:

• Define the overall systems architecture and IT landscape for the business in close cooperation with the Senior Commercial Advisors;
• Formulate IT strategy, monitor and project manage the development, implementation and testing systems prior to go-live;
• Carry out business analysis and technical design in support of key business projects covering the UK and European Electricity markets including the integration into the European market coupling arrangements, the procurement, implementation and testing of the nomination, scheduling & dispatch systems and the ongoing development of in-house proprietary systems, e.g. back-office and business intelligence systems and any ad-hoc tools required to inform business decisions.
• Support the selection of IT service providers and the cost-effective procurement of IT or telecoms equipment and software by preparing RFP/tender documentation, managing ad hoc procurement projects and evaluating tender submissions;
• Ongoing management of external provider(s) of 24/7 desktop support services and corporate IT infrastructure (e.g. SharePoint, email, new user set up, corporate website etc) as well as future management of IT service providers for the chosen market and operational systems.

You should have the following skills and experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience gained working in an IT related field for a transmission system operator, energy consulting firm or other electricity industry stakeholder (generator, supplier, power exchange or trader) is required;
• Excellent knowledge of operational and market-facing systems and IT requirements for interconnectors;
• Expert knowledge of electricity trading arrangements in GB and France; and
• Very good understanding of European network codes and the changing landscape in terms of IT and system requirements.
