The DBaaS Core Database Engineering Team in JPMC is responsible for Database patterns, Engineering standards, automated builds, integrated & common Database ecosystem and productivity initiatives across the firm. The team works in conjunction with other technology towers and Lines of Business to ensure that databases are deployed around a set of standards and best practices that is integrated with the enterprise infrastructure.

We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer, with mixed skillset (Sybase & Oracle Database, Automation/Scripting on Linux/Unix platforms) with a proven track record in Database Architecture, Engineering, Automation, Research and Development, SDLC and have worked on strategic database initiatives.
In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Sybase Engineering experience - required
  • UNIX Scripting experience - required
  • Design & develop standard Sybase & Oracle Database architectural patterns & Engineering builds factoring in Database Security, Risk & Control requirements, Resiliency, Performance & Scalability, Automation & Integration requirements.
  • Developing/enhancing Sybase & Oracle Database automated builds & ecosystem integration using Perl, Python, Unix Shell scripting, SQL, PLSQL, JSON etc.
  • Work in virtual cross-tower teams in strategic programs, drive database agendas and projects at the global perspective, and influence and communicate across the organization.
  • Engage with Clients/Lines of businesses on a consultancy level.
  • Assist DB build & Operate (DBA) teams on escalation in a L4/SME capacity.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management, LOB stakeholders and the broader database community.
  • Project manage Engineering developments to production releases.
Required Qualifications:
  • DBA/Engineering experience - Sybase ASE 12,15,16
  • DBA/Engineering experience - Oracle 11g,12C
  • Development and Automation (Linux/Unix).
  • Experience in Sybase Replication Server, Log Shipping, HADR, Clustering
  • Expert level in Unix Shell scripting, Perl, Python, SQL ,PLSQL and SDLC.
  • Proficiency with Oracle technologies such as ASM, RAC, Dataguard, GoldenGate Replication, RMAN etc.
  • Expertise in Database Performance assessments, Performance benchmarks, Response time profiling, diagnostics & tuning.
  • Good understanding of distributed computing technologies including server hardware, operating systems, networks and storage.
  • Develop detailed build and operations documentation, Project and test plans.
