An established debt platform in London, that has invested capital across senior, whole loan and development finance in the UK and now has assets under management of €2 billion across 20+ loans. They now have an ambitious programme to expand the range and scope of its debt operations and need a Debt Asset Manager to play a key role in managing the existing portfolio.

 

Background

 

The Debt Asset Manager will play a key role in the asset management activities of the existing debt portfolio and assist with the research, analysis, underwriting and transaction management of new real estate debt opportunities. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the asset management of the existing loan portfolio, which includes:
  • Provide ongoing analysis and market research, including updates to financial models for quarterly/annual fair valuations and the periodic reforecasting of asset performance and capital needs
  • Provide support through the closing process including KYC, account set up, third party adviser instructions, reporting and legal documentation
  • Assess specific property targets/goals related to leasing, construction, and economics. Provide recommendations for substandard performance
  • Prepare, analyse and execute Borrower requests and amendments
  • Completing the annual Portfolio Review and Collateral Valuation process
  • Work with Portfolio Management, Research, and Client Services to update investment performance and investment commentary used in quarterly and annual investor reports
  • Monitor property performance through financial statement analysis and reporting
  • Manage the ordering of third party vendor property inspections and appraisals, as needed
  • Manage monthly development drawdowns and liaise with Project Monitors
  • Travel to properties for the purposes of annual (or as needed) property inspections
  • Support the wider team in respect of new financing opportunities by compiling industry, market and asset level data and financial information, data inputting and financial modelling
  • Assist in preparing internal and external financial reports and materials for fund raising initiatives
  • Loan monitoring to ensure Borrowers compliance with various covenants and maintain good and orderly files to keep track of servicing matters

 

Profile

  • 5+ years relevant industry experience with a commercial real estate lending or equity institution
  • Experience with all major real estate asset classes
  • Proficiency with financial modeling and analysis programs (ARGUS, Excel, etc.)
  • Attention to detail balanced with macro sensibilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight
  • Additional language skills would be an advantage but are not required
  • Ability to operate autonomously with complete transparency and integrity, influence others and win support on critical issues, and interact with members of senior management, executives and others in a positive and collegial manner
  • Sophisticated financial skills, quantitative underwriting skills, and capital markets perspective. Quickly grasps complex matters and handles them innovatively
  • Ability to develop strong and effective relationships with borrowers and their representatives
