Your new role
As an Okta Migration Engineer, you will play a key role in planning and delivering end-to-end Okta migration initiatives across multiple environments. You will be responsible for assessing existing identity ecosystems, designing migration strategies, executing tenant and application migrations, and ensuring seamless transitions with minimal business disruption.Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and executing Okta migration projects across Development, Test, UAT, and Production environments.
- Migrating Okta Universal Directory objects, schemas, custom attributes, profile mappings, and supporting Multi-Org architectures.
- Implementing Identity Governance and Lifecycle Management solutions, including automated Joiner-Mover-Leaver (JML) processes.
- Migrating and reconfiguring SSO integrations using SAML, OAuth, OIDC, and SCIM protocols.
- Developing automation solutions using Okta APIs, PowerShell, Python, and JavaScript to streamline migration activities.
- Configuring and optimising authentication, MFA, sign-on, and conditional access policies.
- Troubleshooting complex federation, authentication, and application integration issues.
- Working closely with security teams, application owners, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Producing technical documentation, migration runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational handover materials.
- Providing post-migration support, knowledge transfer, and platform guidance to internal teams.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Okta Certified Professional certification (essential).
- Strong hands-on experience with Okta Identity Cloud, including Universal Directory, SSO, MFA, Lifecycle Management, and Okta APIs.
- Proven experience delivering Okta tenant-to-tenant migrations or broader identity platform migration projects.
- Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM), federation, authentication, and authorization concepts.
- Experience with SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SCIM, and related identity protocols.
- Automation and scripting expertise using PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience troubleshooting complex identity and federation issues.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience working within large enterprise environments.
