Channels Applications

Corporate Bank Technology has embarked on a multi-year technology refresh program that includes revitalization of \"Channel\" applications for payment initiation. As a Lead Engineer (f/m/x), you will be working on adding functionality to a global payment initiation platform that has React based micro frontends backed by Java powered micro-services deployed in a containerized environment. The platform uses event streaming over Kafka and varied datastores such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, HBase, MongoDB.

You'll collaborate with other Senior Engineers and Analysts on the platform embracing agile practices to incrementally add functionality to the platform, with a sharp focus on automation. You will partner with business and technology managers to define modules and enhancements to the application stack that provides Deutsche Bank's institutional clients ability to initiate payments in real time and access to their account balances & statements in near real time. Your key responsibilities

• You partner with UI/UX Design Team, Architects, Business Analysts, Developers, and Stakeholders situated in multiple regions and time-zones to clarify requirements, challenge ambiguities, and translate them into effective QA strategy and test artefacts
• You own feature quality from the QA side across the full lifecycle, ensuring requirements are testable, acceptance criteria are covered, and risks are visible from inception to production
• You create, maintain, and continuously improve test plans and test scenarios, leveraging AI-assisted approaches where useful to accelerate actualization, increase coverage, and keep documentation aligned with evolving requirements
• You design, build, and maintain hands-on automated tests across UI, API, integration, and backend layers with a strong focus on reliability, maintainability, and fast feedback in CI/CD pipelines
• You regularly monitor and control quality risks through appropriate reviews and tollgates across both functional and non-functional testing areas, and you support production issue triage with clear defect analysis and prioritization

Your skills and experiences

• Extensive hands-on experience testing and automating Java-based microservices and distributed applications in Google Cloud environments, including Cloud Run and GKE
• Strong background in test automation using Selenium, Karate, Cucumber, and related frameworks, with the ability to build and evolve robust automation suites independently
• Solid backend and API testing skills (SoapUI, Postman) plus UI testing experience for React-based applications, component-driven front ends, and data validation involving MongoDB-backed services
• Proficient with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and experienced in TDD/BDD automation, test reporting, and quality gates in delivery pipelines
• Strong communication skills with proven ability to drive requirement discussions, define QA ownership for features, and use data and AI-enabled techniques to improve test planning, coverage, and delivery outcomes
