The Finance Reliability & Production Engineering (Finance RPE) team is responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, and operational excellence of Morgan Stanley's Finance and Regulatory Reporting platforms. We partner closely with Finance Technology, Controllers, Regulatory Reporting, Infrastructure, and Development teams to provide reliable production support, drive automation, improve resiliency, and enhance the overall operational health of critical business systems.
As part of Morgan Stanley's ongoing technology transformation, we are expanding our Production Engineering capabilities in Asia. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of finance, technology, automation, and operational excellence while supporting systems that are critical to the firm's financial and regulatory obligations.
Based in Tokyo, you will play a key role in supporting and improving Finance Technology platforms across the Asia-Pacific region, helping ensure reliable service delivery and driving continuous improvement through automation and engineering.

- Providing production support and operational oversight for Finance and Regulatory Reporting applications across the Asia-Pacific region.
- Monitoring critical business processes and responding to production incidents, ensuring timely resolution and effective stakeholder communication.
- Leading root cause analysis efforts and driving sustainable fixes to recurring issues.
- Partnering with development, infrastructure, and business teams to improve platform stability, resiliency, and service quality.
- Developing automation solutions using scripting and modern tooling to reduce operational risk and improve efficiency.
- Identifying opportunities to improve observability, monitoring, alerting, and operational processes.
- Supporting financial reporting workflows to ensure adherence to business deadlines and service level commitments.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, operational excellence, and engineering best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills with experience identifying and resolving complex production issues.
- Strong Unix/Linux administration and debugging experience.
- Solid SQL skills with the ability to investigate data issues across complex application and database environments.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications in a production environment.
- Experience performing incident management, root cause analysis, and service restoration activities.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability platforms Ex: AppDynamics, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar tools.
- Experience with automation and scripting using Python, Shell, Perl, Ruby, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of operational risk management and production support best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive issues through resolution.
- Experience supporting Finance, Product Control, Regulatory Reporting, Risk, or Accounting platforms.
- Knowledge of ETL processing frameworks and data integration technologies.
- Experience working with Autosys or similar enterprise job scheduling platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and modern platform engineering concepts.
- Understanding of data quality controls, reconciliation processes, and financial reporting workflows.
- Knowledge of ITIL service management principles and operational excellence practices.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Exposure to AI-assisted operations, automation, and intelligent monitoring solutions.
