Our client is an international organization within a dynamic, asset-driven industry is expanding its presence in Singapore and is establishing its finance function locally for the first time. This is a high-impact, build-from-scratch role suited for a finance leader who thrives in fast-evolving environments.
The Role
As the Group Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the consolidation and financial reporting scope for Singapore while partnering closely with the Group CFO on global consolidation matters.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end consolidation for Singapore entities across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles
- Partner with Group Finance on group consolidation activities and reporting
- Joint ventures and equity method accounting
- Non-controlling interests
- Multi-layered ownership structures
- Intercompany eliminations
- Prepare supporting schedules, technical accounting papers, and audit documentation
- Oversee statutory reporting and regulatory compliance in Singapore
- Drive intercompany reconciliation processes across jurisdictions
- Act as the key point of contact for auditors, banks, and external stakeholders locally
- Design and implement scalable finance processes and internal controls
- Build and develop the Singapore finance team as the function grows
Your Profile
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following relevant skills sets and experience
- Degree in Accountancy or ACCA / CPA / CA
- Prior external audit exposure with a Big 4 audit firm
- Strong technical expertise in IFRS with proven experience in group consolidation, including complex structures (joint ventures, equity method accounting, non-controlling interests)
- Ability to operate independently across geographies and time zones
- Prior experience in driving projects involving system implementation, process improvement and efficiencies will be a strong advantage
- Prior exposure to shipping or asset-intensive industries is advantageous but not essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, challenge as well as partner key stakeholders
- Hands-on and execution-focused, builder mindset with a desire to create and scale processes from the ground up
- Proactive, autonomous and solutions-driven; able to manage ambiguity effectively
- Curious, pragmatic, and motivated by ownership and responsibility
