Job Description:
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a Senior System & Storage Administrator who will be a hands-on technical expert across servers, backup, storage, and virtualization in a Hybrid environment (on-premises and cloud). Plays a critical role in ensuring stable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure, working closely with cross-functional teams and end users to resolve issues that impact business operations.
Responsibilities:
• Builds and maintains computer systems, specifically operating systems, servers, storage/backup, and end-user computing devices in a hybrid environment (on-premises and cloud).
• Troubleshoots and resolves computing related operational issues by working with end users and other cross functional support teams to ensure availability.
• Monitors the performance of computing systems against KPIs and takes preemptive measures to minimize interruptions and keep the performance at required SLAs, including proactive identification of opportunities for improvements.
• Builds and implements software standards for servers, operating systems, storage/backup, and end-user computing devices.
• Evaluates new and evolving technologies, products, and standards, and works with other key stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain technology roadmaps, plans, and computing systems architecture blueprints and solutions that align with business needs.
• Designs and installs computing infrastructure components, including replacement of faulty systems and hardware components, for on-premises systems and cloud solutions.
• Develops, maintains, and executes all system administration functions in support of disaster recovery processes.
• Acts as primary technical lead throughout projects life cycle and leads project meetings with staff, contractors, and service providers to ensure requirements and priorities are understood and met and issues are resolved.
• Provides technical expertise and recommendations in planning, procurement, and sourcing strategies.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years of experience with backup and storage systems using Netapp (installation, maintenance, and patching, etc.).
• Minimum of five years of computer systems administration and operations experience, including:
o Installing, maintaining, securing, and monitoring computer systems.
o Resolving computing systems incidents and problems in a complex infrastructure environment.
o Virtualization e.g., VMware, Hyper-V.
• Minimum of three years of experience working within operational and project cross functional teams of staff, contractors, and external service providers.
• Azure and/or OCI Certifications is an asset.
• Certification in Netapp is an asset.
• Linux server administration is an asset.
• Experience with Azure cloud storage is an asset.
• Experience with Cohesity is an asset.
• Experience with NetBackup is an asset.
