Management Accountant

Our client is seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who enjoys combining financial reporting, business partnering and data analytics to deliver meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making.

Working closely with the Financial Reporting Manager, you will play a key role in delivering accurate management information, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leveraging technology to enhance financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Management Accounts

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts for designated business areas.
• Manage month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Analyse financial and operational performance, providing clear commentary on key variances and trends.
• Deliver insightful reporting to finance leadership and operational stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
• Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with financial controls, accounting standards and internal policies.
• Support both internal and external audit processes.

Financial Analysis & Business Partnering

• Perform detailed budget versus actual analysis, identifying key performance drivers and opportunities for improvement.
• Work collaboratively with operational teams to understand business performance and financial outcomes.
• Support cost management initiatives and contribute to improving overall financial performance.
• Prepare performance reports highlighting risks, opportunities and key business insights.

Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to automate and improve finance processes using tools such as Power BI and Power Query.
• Apply data analytics to interpret trends and deliver forward-looking financial insights.
• Develop and enhance management reports, KPIs and operational performance reporting.
• Participate in finance transformation and continuous improvement projects.
• Build strong knowledge of financial and operational systems to improve reporting quality and efficiency.

About You

The successful candidate will be a proactive finance professional with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to build effective relationships across the business.

You will have:

• A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Approximately 2+ years' experience within a medium to large commercial organisation.
• Strong experience analysing large datasets and producing meaningful financial insights.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI.
• Experience using ERP/accounting systems such as Agresso or similar.
• A track record of driving process improvements and identifying efficiencies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
• A collaborative approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
