Gas Trader | European Gas Markets

The Opportunity

Our client is a fast-growing energy trading business operating across European gas markets. As part of their continued expansion, they are seeking a highly motivated Gas Trader to join their team.

This is an opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of growth, where you will play a key role in helping build and expand the gas trading desk. The position offers significant responsibility from day one, with direct exposure to trading, portfolio optimisation, and commercial decision-making across European gas markets.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership, contribute directly to P&L generation, and grow alongside a business with ambitious expansion plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute proprietary trading strategies across European gas markets.
• Manage and optimise trading positions within defined risk parameters.
• Trade spreads and identify market opportunities across key European gas hubs.
• Optimise gas asset portfolios and support physical gas activities.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop models, analytics, and trading tools.
• Monitor market fundamentals, infrastructure developments, and regulatory changes.
• Contribute to the growth and expansion of the gas trading desk.
• Support the development of new trading strategies and commercial initiatives.

Candidate Profile

✔ 2-5 years of experience within:

• Gas Trading
• Gas Origination
• Gas Portfolio Management
• Asset Optimisation
• Energy Trading
• Commodity Trading

✔ Strong understanding of European gas markets, including:

• TTF
• THE
• PSV
• CEGH
• NBP

✔ Strong knowledge of:

• Physical gas infrastructure
• Pipeline networks
• Gas storage
• Capacity management
• European gas market structures
• Relevant regulatory frameworks

✔ Strong analytical and quantitative skillset with a high attention to detail.

✔ Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic trading environment.

✔ Commercially minded with a strong appetite for ownership and responsibility.

✔ Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach.

✔ Experience developing or working alongside quantitative models, optimisation tools, or trading analytics is advantageous.
