Fletcher George Recruitment is supporting a highly regarded independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Guildford with the appointment of an Accounts and Audit Manager or Senior Manager into a newly created role.

This opportunity can be shaped around the successful individual. The firm is open to someone seeking a genuinely mixed accounts and audit position or a more audit-led role, depending on their experience, strengths and longer-term career goals.

You will work closely with the Partners from day one, gaining exposure to a high-quality client portfolio and becoming involved in complex technical matters, advisory projects and business planning work.

The Accounts and Audit Manager / Senior Manager Role

This is a broad, client-facing position offering significant responsibility, Partner exposure and the flexibility to shape the balance between accounts and audit work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a varied portfolio of clients and acting as a key point of contact
• Building trusted, long-term relationships with business owners and senior stakeholders
• Reviewing statutory accounts and associated compliance work
• Leading, managing and reviewing audit assignments from planning through to completion
• Ensuring audit and accounts assignments are delivered accurately and within agreed timescales
• Supporting clients with advisory, business planning and technical accounting projects
• Identifying opportunities to provide additional services to clients
• Reviewing the work of junior team members and providing constructive feedback
• Mentoring and supporting the professional development of trainees and qualified staff
• Working directly with the Partners on client delivery and wider firm initiatives

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• ACA, ACCA, ICAS, SAICA or an equivalent professional qualification
• Recent experience gained within a UK firm of Chartered Accountants
• Strong audit experience, as the role will retain a meaningful audit component
• Experience managing client portfolios and building effective client relationships
• A strong technical understanding of audit, statutory accounts and financial reporting
• Experience reviewing work and supporting the development of junior colleagues
• The confidence to communicate directly with clients, Partners and senior stakeholders
• A desire for greater variety, Partner exposure and long-term career progression

The precise balance of audit and accounts work can be tailored around your experience and preferences, although audit will remain an important element of the position.
