Credit Controller (12-Month Fixed-Term Contract) - Kent



An established organisation within a highly regulated and fast-paced sector is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join its finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented credit professional who enjoys managing a high-volume, high-value ledger, building strong customer relationships, and resolving complex account queries. You will play a key role in driving cash collection performance while ensuring a positive customer experience.




Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring outstanding invoices are collected in line with agreed payment terms.


• Chase overdue debt via email and telephone, maintaining regular communication with customers.


• Minimise aged debt by maintaining accurate account notes and clear action plans.


• Investigate, manage, and resolve complex account queries, following established escalation procedures where required.


• Process and raise credit note requests in accordance with company policy.


• Identify potential payment risks, delays, or issues and escalate appropriately to management.


• Participate in regular debtor reviews and contribute towards monthly cash collection targets.


• Reconcile customer accounts and analyse large volumes of financial data to identify discrepancies.


• Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.


• Effectively prioritise workload and manage competing deadlines in a busy environment.


• Support colleagues across the finance function during peak periods and key financial deadlines.

About You:

• Previous experience within a Credit Control or Accounts Receivable environment.


• Ideally 2-3 years of credit control experience.


• Experience managing high-volume customer accounts and debt collection activities.


• Strong reconciliation and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.


• Intermediate Excel skills, including experience working with large datasets.


• The ability to investigate and resolve complex queries efficiently.


• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.


• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
