Associate, Financial Institutions Investment Banking (Wealth & Asset Management M&A)

The Opportunity
A leading independent investment banking advisory firm is seeking an Associate to join its London-based Financial Institutions Group. The team advises clients across the wealth management, asset management, private banking, and broader financial services sectors, with a particular focus on strategic M&A and cross-border transactions throughout Europe.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute M&A and strategic advisory mandates across the wealth management and asset management sectors.
- Develop detailed financial models, valuation analyses, merger models, and transaction materials.
- Support all stages of the deal process, including due diligence, marketing, negotiations, and execution.
- Prepare client presentations, board materials, information memoranda, and strategic analyses.
- Conduct industry and company research across financial services sectors.
- Work closely with senior bankers and clients on complex domestic and cross-border transactions.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Analysts within the team.
Candidate Requirements
- 3-6 years of investment banking experience gained at a leading advisory firm, boutique, or bulge bracket institution.
- Strong deal execution experience across M&A transactions, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Demonstrable sector experience within one or more of the following areas:
- Wealth Management
- Asset Management
- Private Banking
- Financial Services
- Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills, including DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions, and merger modelling.
- Excellent analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
- Fluent English speaker.
- Additional European language capabilities are highly desirable, particularly:
- German
- French
- Italian
- Spanish
- Strong academic record from a leading university.
