We're exclusively supporting a highly successful international commodity trading business as it establishes a brand-new in-house technology function focused on digital transformation, automation and internal platform development.

Headquartered in London, with operations acrossDubai, Singapore and China , the business is investing in a dedicatedDigital Experience, Automation & Transformation (DEAT) team to modernise processes, connect systems, improve data visibility and drive operational efficiency globally.

This role is one of the first hires into the team, offering a rare opportunity to help build a new capability from the ground up while working directly with the DEAT Lead to deliver solutions that are used across the organisation's international trading and operational functions.

The Opportunity

As a Junior Developer, you'll be responsible for building internal applications, automations and integrations across the Microsoft ecosystem, helping to streamline operations across multiple business units and international offices.

You'll work across the entire development lifecycle, from identifying opportunities and engaging stakeholders through to design, development, deployment and ongoing improvement.

This is not a role where you'll be working on a small piece of a large development pipeline. You'll be involved in the full picture, combining front-end development, back-end services, data integration, cloud technologies and stakeholder engagement.

What You'll Be Working On

Projects are likely to include:

1. Building internal web applications that form part of a centralised, role-based employee platform
2. Developing document processing solutions using Azure AI services to extract and structure business-critical data
3. Automating manual processes currently reliant on spreadsheets and email workflows
4. Creating integrations between internal systems and external platforms using APIs
5. Consolidating and connecting data from multiple sources to improve reporting and operational visibility
6. Delivering reporting and self-service tools that enable teams to access information independently
7. Supporting digital initiatives that enhance efficiency across trading, finance, operations and corporate functions
8. A distinctive feature of the role is the level of business exposure. You'll work directly with end users and business sponsors, receiving immediate feedback and seeing first-hand the impact of the solutions you build.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design, develop and maintain internal applications, automations and integrations using Python, Power Platform and Azure services
2. Build intuitive user interfaces and modern web experiences
3. Develop APIs and data integrations that connect business-critical systems
4. Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
5. Produce clear, practical technical documentation
6. Follow governance, security and deployment standards
7. Support existing solutions while continuously improving functionality and user experience
8. Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organisation's global offices
9. Contribute to the growth and evolution of the DEAT function

About You

You'll be comfortable working with broad objectives rather than detailed specifications and will naturally take ownership of identifying next steps, researching solutions and driving progress.

The ideal candidate will be curious, adaptable and commercially minded, with a genuine interest in using technology to improve how organisations operate.

Essential Skills & Experience

1. Strong software development fundamentals with experience inPython
2. Experience using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and problem-solving
3. Understanding of relational databases and SQL
4. Experience working with REST APIs and JSON
5. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
6. Experience delivering applications, automations or technical projects in either a commercial or personal capacity
7. Experience with Git and modern source-control practices

Desirable Skills

1. Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps and Azure AI services
2. Power Apps and Power Automate
3. HTML, CSS and JavaScript
4. Flask, Django or similar web frameworks
5. CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions
6. Experience developing internal business applications
7. Exposure to workflow automation and systems integration
