The Role
As a Quantitative Fundamental Analyst, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing fundamentally driven investment strategies within long/short equity portfolios. You will work at the intersection of traditional equity analysis and modern data science, leveraging structured and unstructured datasets to generate alpha.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with portfolio managers and researchers to design, test, and refine quantitative strategies based on company fundamentals
- Develop and enhance systematic signals derived from financial statements, earnings reports, and other corporate disclosures
- Apply NLP and LLM techniques to extract insights from company filings and unstructured financial data
- Collaborate closely with developers to build scalable research workflows and production-ready models
- Translate complex research questions into data-driven solutions with measurable investment impact
- Stay at the forefront of fundamental quantitative research through academic literature, industry engagement, and external data sources
Requirements
- Strong understanding of company financials, filings, and at least one industry vertical
- Proven experience applying fundamental data within a quantitative investment framework
- Intellectual curiosity and adaptability, with the ability to challenge assumptions and iterate quickly
- Proficiency in Python and/or R
- Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred)
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a quantitative fundamental research role strongly preferred
