Morgan Stanley's full new MD list, and what they actually do

As we noted last week, Morgan Stanley's new list of 173 new managing directors (MDs) seemed small compared to previous years and comparatively bereft of women. Now that the full list of MDs is out, there are a few other anomalies too.

The names of Morgan Stanley's new MDs are listed below, along with their location and job title - where available. 

There are a few positive things to note. Firstly - the sheer preponderance of new MDs in the US, who make up over 50% of the total. Many are based in New York. Secondly, it's been a good year for healthcare investment banker promotions - we count five healthcare specialists globally. And thirdly, it's been a comparatively good year for rates trader promotions and for equity derivatives traders.

Morgan Stanley's Asian employees seem to have been less favoured this year, with Singaporeans in particular looking absent from the list. In London, investment banker promotions were thin on the ground, with only Daniel Diamond, Elly Lukenskaite, Mae Wang, and Emma Whitehouse making the list.
