Position Description
As part of CSI FICC’s Global franchise expansion plan, the FICC Client Fund Management team will be responsible for ensuring efficient, accurate, and scalable operation of the fixed income investment platform for the FICC AM business line. The team plays a critical part in implementing internal controls, strengthening operational infrastructure, supporting client portfolio growth, and upholding institutional-grade standards in servicing FICC AM clients’ investment portfolios.
TheAssociate Director role will be the team lead responsible for overseeing end-to-end operational processes across multi-asset and credit investment strategies. The role will be leading in the implementation of the processes and controls covering trade lifecycle management, broker confirmation, trade allocation and settlement, asset valuation, custodian reconciliation, portfolio accounting and client reporting.
As the team lead, you will be coaching and supervising junior members of the team ensuring the operational procedures are up to date complying with regulatory guidelines and internal policies relating to client assets and external funds handling.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
- Establish setup and implement the operating environment linking up with external custodians, brokers, trade counterparties, valuation agents to ensure client fund portfolios are properly captured into their respective investment mandates, reconciled regularly and reported correctly.
- Implement supervisory controls to ensure accuracy, timeliness and integrity of NAV calculations and client portfolio reports.
- Proactively identify operational risks and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures to uphold to institutional standards in our client servicing.
- Support internal audits, external audits, regulatory reviews and operational due diligence exercise.
- Drive process improvements through automation, workflow optimization, and system enhancements with IT and external vendors.
- Ensure proper segregation of FICC Client Fund Management team’s operations from the Client Portfolio Management team’s operations mitigating conflicts of interests for the overall functioning of the FICC AM business line.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of proven experience in client fund management with a regulated asset management company in Hong Kong or equivalent jurisdictions such as Singapore, Australia or London.
- 1 – 2 years of staff management experience.
- Have experience in setting up processes in relation to trade life cycle events, (e.g. broker confirmation, allocation and settlement, post trade corporate action events).
- Good knowledge of fixed income instruments such as ETFs, CP/CDs, Bonds, CBs, MBS, vanilla FX and exchange futures.
- Familiar with the requirements and standards generally adopted in Client Fund Management controls such as handling of client assets, setup of omnibus account for segregation, proper record-keeping of the managed accounts, regular portfolio reconciliation, valuation and statement generation to clients.
- Candidates that have used Bloomberg AIMS and/or an equivalent asset management solution package as well as those with experience in segregated managed account portfolio servicing will be highly suitable for this role.
- Strong attention to detail, coupled with structured analytical thinking and a solutions-driven approach in dealing with new initiatives and day to day issues.
- A team player with strong coaching skills in dressing young graduate and junior Analyst level staff.
- Degree holder in business, accounting, finance or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills, written and spoken English and Chinese.
