The Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Paralegal to join our established Employers' Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) team in Birmingham. Working alongside experienced Partners, Legal Directors, Associates and Solicitors, you will play a key role in supporting the handling of a varied caseload of defendant EL/PL claims on behalf of insurers, corporate clients and public sector organisations.

The Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Paralegal to join our established Employers' Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) team in Birmingham. Working alongside experienced Partners, Legal Directors, Associates and Solicitors, you will play a key role in supporting the handling of a varied caseload of defendant EL/PL claims on behalf of insurers, corporate clients and public sector organisations.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist fee earners with the management of EL and PL claims from inception through to resolution.
- Review and analyse claim documentation, medical records and evidence.
- Draft correspondence, witness statements, instructions to experts and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and provide case summaries where required.
- Liaise with clients, insurers, brokers, experts, counsel and other third parties.
- Manage court deadlines and maintain accurate records on the case management system.
- Prepare court bundles and supporting documentation.
- Support the team with trial preparation and settlement negotiations.
- Handle a small caseload of litigated and pre-litigated matters under appropriate supervision.
- Ensure compliance with client service standards, regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
Essential
- Previous experience working as a Paralegal within a litigation environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
Desirable
- Experience handling or assisting with Employers' Liability and/or Public Liability claims.
- Defendant insurance litigation experience.
- Experience of working with insurer clients.
- Understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and litigation process.
